Domestic mattress production is expanding.
Spring Air licensee U.S. Bedding is expanding its operations by launching a new 146,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Located on a 13-acre site and housing 10 loading docks, the new space is less than a mile from the company’s previous facility in the area. The new one-story location allows the company to consolidate its production onto one floor and enhance its shipping capabilities.
The new facility was opened to meet rising demand from customers in the Northeast region, which is also the reason Tempur Sealy chose Indiana as the site for its new foam-pouring plant—which the company said will be its largest manufacturing facility in the world.
The goal overall is for a one-million-square-foot warehouse, and Tempur Sealy is starting with 700,000 square feet in the first phase. Production is expected to begin in 2023, and the company plans to hire about 300 people.
Tempur Sealy also recently opened a Sealy manufacturing facility in Dallas and will open a new Sherwood Northeast plant and a West Coast facility later this year.
