The Astros opened the World Series in Houston this past Tuesday, and as we know, Gallery Furniture’s Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale had something up his sleeve in terms of bets.
He placed four bets at four different Sportsbooks in June—the biggest of which was a $2 million bet at Caesars Sportsbook worth $20 million if the Astros win.
He wagered $3.5 million for a potential profit of about $35.6 million, not including the initial investment he’d also get back with a win.
And if that wasn’t enough, after previously treating a group of nuns to tickets to ALCS Game 1 at Minute Maid Park, brought them back for the game on Tuesday.
The Vietnamese-Dominican sisters from southwest Houston travel to Mattress Mack’s trade school to work with students at his Gallery Furniture location off I-45.
When Sister Mary Catherine Do threw out the first pitch at the ACLS game, she won the hearts of many, and the rally nuns earned the nickname after appearing on the jumbotron.
Facing the Braves tonight after a 1-1 tie, if the Astros win Mattress Mack will give free mattresses to customers who spent $3,000 or more on a certain brand for his latest promotion.
Tonight is the showdown between the Braves and the Astros—will Mack’s bets pay off?
