Ashley Furniture has made a big move into logistics with the purchase of the West Coast fleet of Wilson Logistics as part of a plan to expand its capabilities and deliver to customers faster.
The purchase adds about 50% capacity to its current fleet, according to reports, and will bring the company’s total to 2,000 trucks and about 5,000 trailers.
Some people saw this coming, as Ashley is doing everything it can to keep product flowing despite interruptions from the pandemic.
And it begs the question: will other home furnishings company’s start buying up logistics companies in order to ease supply chain woes?
